Alex is inspired by the bustling cityscape of London where he lives and the rolling hills and seaside of his home county, Devon. His work combines mixed media including recycled magazines and newspapers.

It looks like a tornado has swept through the house when Alex is painting; torn pages of recycled magazines and newspapers lay scattered around his easel as he forages for the perfect colour to lay down the foundations of his painting. ‘Happy accidents’ form the basis of Alex’s work, when the perfect quote or article appear unexpectedly in pages.

During his Art Foundation diploma course and later during his degree in Interior Architecture, Alex’s paintings became influenced by his love of architecture. Alex has now been selling his paintings, prints and greeting cards in various galleries in Devon for over 10 years, and his work as an artist is complemented by his career as an exhibition designer in London.

Alex has worked on a number of commissions and works with clients to develop individually tailored paintings, incorporating material and references of sentimental importance such as old theatre tickets, newspaper cuttings, and important dates.
